How to Use a Command Block in Minecraft to Build
This guide is for people who generate pixel art with ImageToPixelApp and want to build it in Minecraft using the Command Block export. It is the fastest way to test builds, but it can be risky if you run it in the wrong place.
Before You Start
- Java Edition: The exports are designed for Java (the UI includes Java versions like 1.9–1.13).
- Use a world where commands are allowed (Creative, cheats enabled, or server permission).
- Build in an empty area or a test world first.
- Read Commands to Delete before running anything (it clears blocks).
What You Get
- A multi-page command output (page input + arrows).
- A Copy button that copies the current page.
- A Total Commands count for the whole export.
Understand the Export Panel (Quick)
- Convert Method: choose Command Block for multi-page commands.
- Minecraft Version: must match your game version (command syntax can differ).
- Spawn Towards: controls the build direction (fixes rotated/mirrored results).
- Commands to Delete: shows the clearing commands used to prepare the build area.
Recommended Safe Setup
- Pick a flat empty spot (or a creative test world).
- Stand where you want the build to start (so you can see it and keep chunks loaded).
- If you are unsure, make a backup copy of the world first.
Recommended Command Block Settings
- Type: Impulse
- Condition: Unconditional
- Redstone: Needs Redstone (use a button/lever so you run each page once)
Step-by-Step: Build With the Command Block Export
- In ImageToPixelApp, open Export and choose Convert Method → Command Block.
- Set Minecraft Version and Spawn Towards.
- Review Commands to Delete to understand what area will be cleared.
- Click Copy to copy the current page.
-
In Minecraft, get a command block:
/give @p command_block - Place the command block near your build area.
- Open it and paste the copied command into the command block input.
- Trigger the command block once. Wait until the build stops changing before moving on.
- Go to the next page in ImageToPixelApp and repeat (Page 1 → Page 2 → …) until finished.
Troubleshooting
For paste limits, missing pages, clearing risks, version/facing issues, and partial builds, use the full guide: Why Your Command Block Export Isn’t Working (And How to Fix It).
Quick Checklist
- Run pages in order (do not skip).
- Stay close to the build (keep chunks loaded).
- If anything looks wrong, stop and change Spawn Towards or build in a new empty area.
